“My interest in wallpaper is purely to transform environments in interesting, dynamic ways.”
When and where were you born?
Where do you currently live and work?
I am considered a “Brooklyn Designer” but my studio is currently in Manhattan.
How long have you been practicing your craft?
What inspires you?
Through subtle shifts in movement and scale, I seek to capture natually occuring forms in nature and urban landscapes.
How would you describe your style
Designing a modern print on a traditional artform like wallpaper is an interesting synthesis of past and present. Although I have been very loyal to hand-screened printing for its ability to render rich colors and deep metallic hues, I am also now starting to work with other companies that push the boundaries of wallcoverings. My interest in wallpaper is purely to transform environments in interesting, dynamic ways.
What has been a defining moment in your career?
I work best when I am alone, but when I started collaborations with other people/companies, I realized that nothing is more valuable than the energy that takes place when different people come together with different abilities. From that point on, I realized I needed others as part of my creative process more than I thought I did!
What are your future plans?
I collaborated with a another interiors company named SISSY+MARLEY and since 2013, we have been putting out successful kids wallpaper patterns. This year, I teamed up with VISUAL MAGNETICS, an innovative company that specializes in magnetic textiles, to create a collection inspired by magnetism and magnetic particles. I also collaborated with ROCKWELL GROUP and Maya Romanoff on a 100 ft felt mural for the Botanic Gardens in Brooklyn. I am currently working on new collaborations with other companies, and hope to be one of the go-to designers for custom hospitality artwork.
Can you leave us with some parting words or advice?
“Your desires are brought to you via thought, and you receive them by deciding to take action”. It’s an amazing concept that your thought patterns control your behavior, which control your actions, which control the course of your life. Make sure you have positive thoughts that do not limit you!
